maks rz is a Polish artist and animator whose works focus on figures destined for ridiculousness, elevating the trivial while trying to find the point at which failure turns into catastrophe. Drawing on the cultural legacy of a Polish upbringing, the artist explores shame as a desire to be taken seriously and the humor in fragile heroism that emerges when dignity slowly slips away.

His debut animated film, Martyr's Guidebook, screened and received awards at international film festivals including Sundance, Annecy International Animation Festival, Ottawa International Animation Festival and New Horizons. Currently he is working on his sophomore short film 'dogname'.
